Appointment, Responsibilities and Powers as per HBTU Act 2016
- The Dean of Planning and Resource Generation shall be nominated by the Vice Chancellor, from amongst the Professors of the University. The emoluments, terms and conditions of service and powers and duties shall be such as may be laid down in the Ordinances. He shall work directly under the control of the Vice Chancellor.
- He shall hold office for a term of two years and shall not be eligible for reappointment for consecutive term.
- He shall also be responsible for promoting consultancy and making testing facility available to industry in various departments of University.
- He shall also be responsible for Placement Cell of the University for Placement of the University students.
- He shall be responsible for interaction with Alumni of the University as Coordinator of Alumni Cell and shall motivate them for contributing to resource generation for the University.
- He shall also be responsible for filing Patents and intellectual property rights (IPR) on behalf of University, generated by students, teachers, alumni and incubators of the University.
- A formal committee consisting of all the Head of Departments, the Dean of Planning and Resource Generation shall be responsible for:- (a) resource generation in order to increase the revenue for the University (b) for preparation of planning and other strategies for new policies and mechanisms for welfare of the University and its students.
Training and Placement Cell of the University in coordination with all the Schools of the University organizes finishing schools, mock interviews and GDs, expert lectures etc. through out the year. Dean, Planning and Resource Generation of this University is responsible for Training T&P Placement Cell of the University. Dean, Planning and Resource Generation is assisted by two Placement Coordinators and Departmental Placement Coordinators. A separate dedicated building equipped with all state-of the-art facilities and other infrastructure is being conducted.

As per clause 22(5) of the HBTU Act, the Dean, Planning and Resource Generation shall be responsible for interaction with Alumni of the University as Coordinator of the Alumni Cell and shall motivate them for contributing to resource generation of the University.

Objectives of the Alumni Cell
The Executive Council of the University in its 22th meeting held on 25/02/2023 vide Agenda no. 22.08 has approved formation & Constitution of Alumni Cell with the following objectives:
- Create a strong link between alumni and the University and improve alumni relations.
- Increase the prospects of fundraising.
- Assist current students in career planning, internship, placement and transitions.
- To institute prizes and scholarships and render financial aid to deserving students.
- Providing case study material, guest faculty, equipment etc. to enhance teaching.
- Sponsoring research, student projects or courses.
- Commissioning consultancy from academics.
- Brokering introductions to create new partnerships for the university with their employers, governments and other affiliated organizations.
- Providing expert advice and guidance to the institution”s leadership.
- Sharing talents to enhance the cultural life through performances, exhibitions, etc.
- Contributing to the positive public profile of the University.
Composition of the Alumni Cell
- Chairman: Dean, Planning and Resource Generation shall be the Ex-Officio Chairman of the Alumni Cell.
- Member-Secretary: Associate Dean, Planning and Resource Generation (Alumni Affairs) shall be the Ex-Officio Secretary of the Alumni Cell.
- Members
- Two Faculty members of the University nominated by the Vice Chancellor on the recommendation of the Chairman for 2 years duration on rotation.
- One student of the University nominated by the Vice Chancellor for a period of 1 year on rotation.
Objectives of the Alumni Cell
- Fund received by the University from the students at the time of admission in the form of Alumni Fee shall constitute the receipt of the Alumni Cell.
- Fund of the Alumni Cell shall be kept in the following University Account as below:

- Any fundraising in cash or kind done by the Alumni Cell shall be the property of the University.
- If Donation is open without any specific objective, it shall be used for infrastructure development for the Students after due approval of Competent Authority.
- Donation is exempted from Income Tax under section 80G
