Biotechnology is a multidisciplinary field with immense potential for advancing human welfare, particularly in areas such as human and animal health, food and nutrition, agriculture, animal sciences, environmental science, and more. It has emerged as a key area of focus in science and technology, with the capability to significantly contribute to the economic growth of India and World.
In the 21st century, the global vision for biotechnology emphasizes the transition of bio-based innovations “from Lab to Land and from Bench to Business”, ensuring that the benefits of biotechnological advancements reach society at large by making bio-based products more accessible and affordable.
In alignment with this vision, the Department of Biotechnology was established in 2024, offering a B. Tech in Biotechnology. The department also offer two postgraduate programs: M.Sc. in Biotechnology, M.Sc. in Biochemistry, and Ph.D. in Biotechnology from the Academic Year 2025-2026.
These programs focus on integrated approaches to critical areas such as human health, biopolymers, recombinant DNA technology, transgenic development, infection and immunity etc. A key highlight of the curriculum is the emphasis on hands-on learning, students engage directly with faculty on real-time research projects, equipping them with the practical skills required to address emerging global challenges.
