Department Profile

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in 1984 with a 4-year B. Tech. program in Computer Science & Engineering, with an intake of 30 students. A 3-year Post Graduate Program, Master of Computer Application, with an intake of 60 students was introduced in 1987. Under IT task force recommendations, B. Tech. Information Technology Program was introduced in the year 2000, with an intake of 60 students. Currently the department is running B. Tech. Computer Science and Engineering, B. Tech. Information Technology & MCA with intake of 60, 30 and 60 respectively. One of the youngest, but among the most efficient departments, it is reputed for producing the best quality software engineers who serve in leading companies, not only in India but also abroad. The students have an in-depth exposure to computing environment consisting of state-of-the-art machines in different laboratories. In order to identify Industrial projects for the students and to expose them to the industrial environment, the department has continuous interaction with the Industries. B. Tech. Computer Science & Engineering program is accredited by NBA / AICTE.

Facilities

A. Developing facilities and infrastructure of Incubation Hub

The Plan for developing facilities and infrastructure of Incubation Hub is as following:
1.First Phase of Implementation: In this phase minimum required resources to establish the office of dean of incubation hub will be established
2.Second Phase of Implementation: Incubation Space i.e. Facilities to be offered to the incubated companies on an individual basis will be established.
3.Third Phase of Implementation: Establishment of Training, Research and sustainable Facilities will be considered in this phase, i.e.
i.Laboratory to transform ideas into real-time engineering objects
ii.Integrated digital environment for Innovation, Integration, Incubation and Implementation
iii.Ideation Accelerator will be established with the generous funding with the support of Funding agencies that would be a soft facility in the domain of embedded systems, platforms, algorithms and IT related ideas.
iv.Entrepreneurship Research and Training Centre will aim to conduct cutting edge research, teaching and training in entrepreneurship in the Indian context by utilizing the facilities of Incubation Hub and the existing intellectual pool in the University.

B. Separate programm targeting Innovation and Entrepreneurship will be incorporated

The programme will be started under self–finance-scheme (SFS) and under this scheme trained and well qualified 03 teachers for first year and 03 teachers for second year will be selected as per requirements and the norms of university. There will be a different curriculum for this Course with the aim to develop students as start-up entrepreneurs and it will have 30 percent Knowledge related courses,40 percent Skills based courses and 30 percent Attitude related courses.

C. Plan to develop ‘Student Start-up Infrastructure Fund

Proposals to establish the ‘Student Start-up Infrastructure Fund’ will be submitted and after getting the support, the fund will be utilized to fulfill requirements of hard and soft infrastructure such as physical infrastructure for demand analysis dataset, testing labs,design studio,tool rooms, IT labs,video-conferencing facilities etc.
The startup cell works under the guidance of Dean, Incubation Hub of the University.
