Appointment, Responsibilities and Powers as per HBTU Act 2016
  • There shall be four Deans of University Schools with four different University Schools in the University, namely School of Engineering, School of Chemical Technology, School of Basic & Applied Sciences, and School of Humanities and Social Sciences, each for one school. (2) The Dean of a School shall be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor, from amongst the Professors from the Departments under the schools referred to in sub section (l). The emoluments, terms and conditions of service and powers and duties shall be such as may be laid down in the Ordinances. He shall work directly under the control of the Vice-Chancellor.
  • He shall hold office for a term of two years and shall not be eligible for re-appointment for consecutive term.
  • He shall be responsible for proper functioning of various departments under that school through Head of Department concerned.
  • He shall be responsible for getting new courses introduced, for getting the curricula reviewed regularly after incorporating industry inputs, for overseeing consultancy, research and innovation work in the departments, apart from suggesting new mechanisms for industry-academia interaction.
  • The Dean of School of Engineering shall be responsible for the general administration and functioning of the University, Engineering departments including Departments of Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, civil Engineering, Computer Applications, Information Technology and Central Workshop or any other department as the University may think fit.
  • The Dean of School of Chemical Technology shall be responsible for the general administration and functioning of the University Technology departments including Plastic Technology, Paint Technology, Oil Technology, Bio-Chemical Engineering, food Technology, Leather Technology and Chemical Engineering or any other department as the University may think fit.
  • The Dean of School of Basic & Applied Sciences shall be responsible for the general administration and functioning of the University Basic & Applied Sciences departments including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or any other department as the University may think fit.
  • The Dean of School of Humanities and Social Sciences shall be responsible for the general administration and functioning of the University Humanities and Social Sciences departments and subjects including English, Economics. Management, and Languages etc. or any other department as the University may think fit.
